All work and no play...

I've had a few folks ask me why we haven't posted anything on our blog recently - simple: we haven't really done much worth writing about recently. I hate to admit this, but we've been laying low and just haven't had time for play lately.

We've gone out on a couple short sailing trips, but nothing too major. We spent a good couple weeks helping our friend, Bob Williams, get his boat prepped for his summer task of taking Boy Scouts out on it. Here's Dave helping him get s/v Mydas to Islamorada. He's hanging off the jib sheet, enjoying the breeze.

We scored a couple incredible batteries and a charge controller from helping Bob out. We've been working to get it securely set up in the boat, and re-wiring the whole system, prepping for getting more solar panels up, lots of work to make the boat energy self-sufficient. We're not there quite yet, but we're hoping to be there in the next couple weeks.

We've also been getting the boat prepped for hurricane season. We had desperately wanted to go to the Carolinas for summer, but after having done thorough research we've come to realize that the Carolinas are the last place we want to be for hurricane season. They tend to get hit the most, the hardest. Against all our desires, we've decided to buckle down in Boot Key until we have the green flag to sail safely. We're looking forward to that.

We're all doing fine. We're feeling stagnant here, and bored - we're ready to start our journey. But otherwise, we're all happy, healthy, and loving spending all our time together (The Fluff included). We miss everyone!

  1. I love your' posts, even when theres nothing spectacular to report. Just doing what you're doing is spectac enough, and all your friends and family can live the life vicariously. The road we didn't have the courage to follow. love you
